The date of October 5, 1985 will remain for the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Randol that of the consecration or Dedication of its church. Among the Gregorian chants of which the liturgy of the Dedication is composed, the monks have chosen and recorded the pieces presented here.

Dedication? In common parlance, it is the ceremony of the consecration of a church: the building then truly becomes the house of God. This is how solemn the celebration is. All the great rites of the Church are used. And the songs are adapted. It is in this context that the monks of Randol Abbey, in the Puy-de-Dôme, invite us to a sort of anthology of their Gregorian melodies. They express both joy and serenity, spiritual elevation and human sensitivity, from Magnificat to Alleluia, from hymns to meditations.
