The meditation cloth of Brother Klaus de Flue is an exciting, attractive and meaningful image. In appearance and at first glance very simple, this image contains a wealth of symbolism and meaning.
In four successive readings, this work brings out all the facets of this representation of the mystery of the One and Triune God, of Christ as the mirror of salvation for man, of the Eucharist as the heart, source and lung of the Christian.
He also seeks to go back to the ancient sources speaking of the fabric, to the mystical context of the Rhine current with Hildegarde de Bingen, Master Eckhart and Henri Suso, to the artistic context with the "Fastentücher", the fabrics of Lent or of the Passion.
Through an in-depth study of both the image, its probable or certain origins, and the meaning of the representation, this work makes us discover that it is a summary of the entire Christian life. The pilgrim's journey (the ordinary life of the Christian), the seven sacraments, the Our Father, the creed, all the essentials of Christian life and faith are represented in this unique image.
