On October 9, 1977, Pope Paul VI canonized the Lebanese monk Charbel Makhlouf. At a turning point in its history, the Church has thus offered us a new model. At the Council, there were many calls for a Church of the poor. Rarely, it can be said, has a Christian lived in evangelical poverty in such an absolute way as the admirable monk of Lebanon.
Charbel Makhlouf died on December 24, 1898. When, in 1927, he was placed in a new burial place, his body had remained absolutely intact. Since his death, many pilgrims, both Christians and Muslims, have come to his tomb, where many miraculous healings have already been recorded.
In the second part of the book we present many testimonies of healing that appeared in Stella Maris and were written by Jean Claude Antakli, who visited several times the convent of St. Maron of Annaya in Lebanon, where St. Charbel lived. He spoke with Father Luis Matar, responsible for the testimonies of graces received through the intercession of Saint Charbel.
